ELMSFORD, N.Y., April 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific and Hypres Inc. announced the successful demonstration of a multi-netting receiver prototype.
U.S. company Hypres has been working with support from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific on a Link-16 multi-net receiver prototype that is completely digital.
The Link-16, a high-speed tactical data link, is used for situational awareness by U.S. and coalition forces. Hypres has been developing its Digital Radio Frequency technology to support a Link-16 multi-net receiver that "digitized signals from two Link-16 radios operating on two independent Link-16 networks" in a demonstration, according to a news release.
"This was an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our all-digital advantage addressing one of the most difficult RF challenges in military data links," Richard Hitt, Hypres chief executive, said in a statement.
"We're looking forward to increasing the number of simultaneous nets served by a single system, as I know firsthand the importance of operating multiple Link-16 nets in theater operations," said Hitt, a retired Air Force officer and 20-year veteran of the wireless industry.
