PHOENIX, April 9 (UPI) -- U.S. company White Electronic Designs Corp. has been contracted to provide military Global Positioning System platforms with its electronic solutions.
White Electronic Designs, a developer of multi-chip semiconductor products, high-efficiency memory devices and other electronic solutions, was awarded approximately $8.6 million in contracts from undisclosed clients.
As part of the contracts, White Electronic Designs will support GPS military programs including airborne radios and precision-guided munitions.
"The products are used in a variety of military programs," Dan Tarantine, White Electronic Designs executive vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.
"While in the past we have utilized (GPS) technology in larger weapon platforms, it is now being implemented in smaller handheld communication devices and munitions approaching 105mm."
