TORRANCE, Calif., April 3 (UPI) -- The British government has contracted Rapiscan Systems Inc. to deliver its mobile high-energy X-ray cargo-screening technologies.
U.S. company Rapiscan has been contracted to supply Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs with its Eagle Mobile high-energy X-ray cargo-screening systems.
The contract, which includes operator training and support services, is for Rapiscan's Eagle Mobile 4500 series screening systems variant mounted on commercial truck platforms. Official say the Rapiscan X-ray technology will be deployed at strategic entry ports as part of an effort to modernize the country's screening systems.
"That we were selected following a tender that included multiple competitors, including the incumbent supplier, further demonstrates that Rapiscan's cargo inspection systems meet the highest standards for technical performance, reliability and overall value," Terry Whittock, Rapiscan Europe, Middle East and Africa region managing director, said in a statement.
