ROCKVILLE, Md., March 25 (UPI) -- U.S. defense contractors Hi-G-Tek and Trojan Defense have signed an agreement to integrate technologies to strengthen security for global shipments.
Hi-G-Tek and Trojan Defense announced the signing of a letter of intent that allows for the integration of Trojan Defense's neutron sensor technology, currently under development, into the line of radio-frequency identification seals, locks and readers produced by Hi-G-Tek.
Company officials said the deal is part of an effort to better manage and enhance security for the international logistics supply chain through monitoring illicit trafficking of nuclear materials.
"We are pleased to work with Hi-G-Tek's premier scientists and engineers to create a global security and defense architecture designed to meet this pressing need," Matthew Schor, Trojan Defense chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"The recent maritime attack in Mumbai is but the latest indication that a solution to this global nuclear threat is sorely needed."
