Under the $665.6 million deal, Lockheed Martin will upgrade the P-3C aircraft, which officials said would extend the service life of the aircraft by an additional 15,000 flight hours.

"The Lockheed Martin team is committed to providing the Taiwan navy with state-of-the-art maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft," Rick Udicious, Lockheed Martin Tactical Systems vice president and general manager, said in a statement.

"These upgraded aircraft will allow for continued mission-system enhancements over many years of extended operational life."
