NEW YORK, March 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has selected aircraft modernization and maintenance company L-3 Communications to compete for simulation and training task orders.
New York-based L-3 was selected by the Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation. L-3 will compete for the office's Omnibus Contract II task orders, known as STOC II, supporting simulation and training initiatives for the Army.
The STOC II task orders are worth approximately $17.5 billion over 10 years to all the companies selected to participate. L-3 said its MPRI unit will oversee a team competing for the task orders.
"This award will enable us to provide a wide array of services and products to the U.S. Army and our fine soldiers," retired Army Gen. Carl Vuono, L-3 Services Group president, said in a statement.
"L-3's expertise in leadership training and support, advanced simulation systems and engineering services makes us uniquely positioned to be able to quickly respond to the Army's requirements."
