Army awards deal for NightHunter 3 systems

CARLSBAD, Calif., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Xenonics Holdings Inc. for the delivery of its advanced night-vision technologies.

U.S. company Xenonics was contracted by the Army to deliver its NightHunter 3 illumination systems to support a brigade from the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Xenonics was awarded a $1.4 million order from the Army for its visualization technology, which can be hand-held or weapon-mounted and is designed to illuminate targets at great distances.

"The Pennsylvania National Guard brigade is one of a number of Army units that have recently submitted operational need statements requesting funding for purchases of our new, state-of-the-art NightHunter 3," Alan Magerman, Xenonics chairman and founder, said in a statement.

"This is the first of several significant NightHunter 3 purchase orders we expect to receive in the months to come as these formal funding requests work their way through the procurement process."
