MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Sensor Technologies Inc. has contracted Science Applications International Corp. to support the maintenance of U.S. Army Tactical Biometrics Systems.
Sensor Technologies awarded U.S. company SAIC a subcontract for maintenance support work on a deal with the Army Communications and Electronics Command. Under the $115 million subcontract, SAIC will provide CECOM with operations and user maintenance support for its Tactical Biometrics Systems.
Officials say the Tactical Biometrics Systems, which include handheld interagency identity detection systems, among other technologies, are designed to check biometric data like iris scans and fingerprints against a list of potential enemy threats.
"We look forward to contributing to the growing biometrics support our fighting men and women are receiving throughout the world," John Thomas, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, said in a statement.
