NEW YORK, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- The Institute for Defense and Government Advancement announced plans to hold a new military vehicle convention in Detroit this summer.
IDGA, a public service and defense innovation promotion organization, announced plans to hold its inaugural Military Vehicles Exhibition and Conference at Detroit's Cobo Center.
Officials say the military vehicle conference is part of an effort to bring together Defense Department officials, private-sector developers, the academic community and others to a single event that could potentially generate new ideas and partnerships.
"The military vehicles community has encouraged us to provide an expanded arena for information sharing, networking and showcasing products across all platforms," Michael Gallo, IDGA general manager, said in a statement.
"The greater Detroit area is a hub of military vehicle activity in the United States, and we are pleased to make Detroit the home of this event for years to come."
The Military Vehicles Exhibition and Conference is scheduled to take place in August.
