FARMINGDALE, N.Y., Jan. 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has contracted Telephonics Corp. for its communication technologies to support military medical evacuations.
New York-based Telephonics was awarded a follow-on contract to deliver its TruLink Wireless Intercommunication Systems to the Air Force. Under the $2 million deal, Telephonics' TruLink technology will support the communication capabilities of Air Force aeromedical evacuation teams.
Company officials say TruLink is designed to enable wireless and clear voice communications aboard the high-noise environment of an aircraft between medical technicians and other crew members to ensure the safety of soldiers being airlifted.
"We are pleased to continue to provide these systems that enhance the operational safety and capability of the personnel during these critical aeromedical evacuation missions," Phil Nicholas, Telephonics Communication Systems division president, said in a statement.
"The TruLink wireless voice communication system continues to be used across the Army, Navy, Air Force and U.S. Coast Guard to enhance the safety of our military personnel during dangerous and critical operational missions."
