MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Frost & Sullivan is honoring U.S. company ITT Communications Systems with an award for technical advancements in military communications.
Frost & Sullivan, a business analysis and consulting firm, announced it has given ITT its 2008 North American Frost & Sullivan award for Military Software Defined Radio Growth Strategy Excellence of the Year award.
The award, which recognizes achievements in technological innovation and development, among other criteria, was given to ITT for its Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio Systems. The SINCGARS radios are used as part of the U.S. Army's Combat Net Radio and were recognized as advancing communication for soldiers on the ground and tactical networking between soldiers, sensors and unmanned systems.
"ITT's ubiquitous SINCGARS radios not only enhance informational superiority but also save war fighters' lives," Garrick Ngai, Frost & Sullivan industry analyst, said in a statement.
"Critical to SINCGARS' continued growth and relevance on the modern battlefield are the successive enhancements made in size, weight, power and software architecture that enable users to do more with less."
