TEWKSBURY, Mass., Oct. 28 (UPI) -- The U.S. Coast Guard recently participated in a Raytheon Integrated Defense System experiment testing a real-time simulation technology under development.
U.S. company Raytheon conducted the experiment with its Mission Profiling technology being developed to support the Coast Guard's District Command Center maritime security operations with real-time simulation decision support tools.
The Coast Guard members from Boston's Coast Guard First District Command Center participated in the Joint Mission Experimentation Environment to evaluate the technology's terrorist incursion simulation and provide feedback to Raytheon.
"Our ability to conduct this experiment in real time, with the servicemen and women who will eventually use these systems, is an important step in determining the viability of new capabilities and tools," Lee Silvestre, Raytheon IDS Mission Innovation vice president, said in a statement.
"Our collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard demonstrates our commitment to developing systems and capabilities that address the emerging needs of today and tomorrow."
