The June 2007 A1 version was released to first responders and other civilian rescue teams. The 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army employed the M-Gator with great success in Afghanistan.

"The M-Gator has been very well received in the military and emergency personnel communities and has built a reputation we are proud of," said Cleo Franklin with John Deere.

Civil Support Teams used the M-Gator with a variety of modifications to suit combat and other non-military roles, such as information transport.

It is dispatched to combat zones using a special sling fitted for the Black Hawk helicopter.
