ST. LOUIS, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- St. Louis linebacker Scott Shanle will be suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.
The Rams announced the suspension will be without pay.

The 6-2, 245-pound Shanle, selected in the seventh round of the 2003 draft out of Nebraska, is eligible to return to the team's active roster following St. Louis' Oct. 26 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Also Friday, the Rams signed tight end Spencer Nead to the active roster from the practice squad and released guard Curry Dawson from the practice squad.
