Apple expected to unveil new iPads at Oct. 22 event

CUPERTINO, Calif., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Apple will unveil its newest iPad tablet, along with a new Mac Pro computer and a new operating system, Oct. 22, tech news site AllThingsD is reporting.

The highlight of the invitation-only event is expected to be a next-generation iPad that is lighter and thinner than the current model, with an improved camera, and which runs Apple's new 64-bit A7 processor, people familiar with Apple's plan told AllThingsD.

Apple is expected to introduce a new version of the iPad Mini with a high-resolution Retina, also running the A7 chip.

Apple has been quiet on any details or prices for its Mac Pro computers or OS X Maverick operating system update, the two other products are expected at the event.

The completely redesigned Mac Pro was briefly previewed during Apple's developer conference in June, where teh company also debuted Mavericks, which has been in beta testing, with a final version given to developers last week.
