Iran says its drones are more advanced

TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Iran's defense minister Sunday said his country's drones are far more advanced than the one Hezbollah sent to intercept Israel's airspace earlier this month.

"Definitely the technology of the drone which recently flew into the Quds occupier regime by the Lebanese resistance movement and amazed the enemies is not the newest Iranian technology," the Iranian Mehr News Agency quoted Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi saying.

He was referring to the Oct. 6 incident when Hezbollah sent an Iranian-made drone into Israel's airspace that was shot down 20 minutes later by an Israeli fighter jet. Hezbollah later claimed responsibility for the incident.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran currently possesses unmanned aircraft with technology that is far more advanced than the drone recently sent by the resistance movement of Hezbollah forces in the Zionist regime's airspace," Iran's Press TV quoted Vahidi saying. "Given the Zionist regime's frequent incursions into the Lebanese airspace, we see it as the natural right of Lebanon's Hezbollah to fly its drone above the occupied territories."
