VIENNA, March 28 (UPI) -- Austrian energy company OMV said, in response to international regulations, it would no longer fuel Iran Air planes at the Vienna International Airport.
OMV announced that it didn't renew its contract with the Iranian airline, meaning flights can't refuel with the group in Vienna.
"To further correspond (to) all applicable regulations we have decided to cancel fueling of Iran Air at Vienna International Airport," a company spokesman told United Press International in response to e-mail queries.
The European Union and the United States in July passed unilateral sanctions on Iran that target the country's energy sector. Tehran was again admonished last week by the international community for its human rights record
The U.S. State Department last year published a list that named several international energy companies that stopped doing business with Iran and several of those companies canceled contracts with Iran Air.
OMV provided few details regarding its relationship with Iran Air other than to say it would no longer refuel the carrier.
