TAMPA, Fla., July 10 (UPI) -- Fish in the Gulf of Mexico have suffered skin lesions as a result of spilled crude oil, say scientists from the University of South Florida who, for the last four years, have been monitoring the effects of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill on the health of area fish.
In a newly completed study of fish suffering skin lesions, researchers observed a correlation between the malady and the chemical footprint of the spilled oil found in the fishes' livers and muscles.
