BERLIN, May 9 (UPI) -- Visitors at the Natural History Museum in Berlin saw enough similarities in a newly discovered species of wasp and a terrifying Harry Potter creature to name the organism after the terrifying dementors.

The public voted on the name, calling the Southeast Asian wasp an ampulex dementor.

The two creepy creatures share certain similarities.

In the Harry Potter world, dementors are creatures that such happiness out of peoples' souls using a kiss of death.

Likewise, the ampulex dementor paralyzes its prey -- usually the cockroach -- with a single sting to the brain. The cockroach then turns into a zombie, following the wasp back to its burrow where she lays her egg inside the cockroach.

The egg incubates inside the cockroach, hatches and then eats its host.
