NASHVILLE, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Scientists say examination of fossil teeth suggests saber-toothed cats in California were not driven to extinction by lack of food as has long been believed.
When prey is scarce, the researchers said, large carnivores may gnaw prey to the bone, causing significant wear to their teeth as a result.
