PALERMO, Italy, April 13 (UPI) -- Buildings shook in the Sicilian city of Palermo as a mild, 4.3-magnitude earthquake shook the region Friday morning, Italy's Institute of Geophysics said.

There were no reports of injuries or damage from the quake that occurred at 8 a.m., local time, but schools and local authority offices would remain closed Friday as a precautionary measure, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.

The temblor's epicenter was 19 miles from the coast between the Sicilian island of Ustica and the coastal town of Palermo, authorities said, and a 2.4-magnitude aftershock followed, originating from the same epicenter.
