SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Microsoft is apparently preparing to submit its Microsoft Office Suite to Apple for approval as an application for the iPad, a U.S. tech Web site reported.

Thedaily.com said a working prototype of the software it examined reveals a user interface similar to Microsoft's current OneNote note-taking app but with elements of Metro, the interface model seen in Windows Phone and expected in the upcoming Windows 8 desktop operating system.

Word, Excel and PowerPoint files can be opened and edited locally and online, thedaily.com said, but it remains unknown if Microsoft will support other Office apps on the iPad.

No mention has been made of possible integration with Microsoft's SkyDrive cloud storage, thedaily.com said.

Sources told the Web site an Android version of Office is not being considered.
