LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Corning says it will introduce a new version of its Gorilla Glass, used in millions of electronic device screens, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The original damage-resistant Gorilla Glass has been used by 30 major manufacturers in more than 575 product models spanning more than 500 million units worldwide, Corning said in a release Friday.
"Corning Gorilla Glass has been a tremendous success for Corning, enjoying excellent market acceptance across mobile device industries," James R. Steiner of Corning Specialty Materials said.
Corning says its CES display will demonstrate Gorilla Glass 2 in larger-format touch displays for education, entertainment, auto, and home appliance applications.
Among the items to be displayed is an 82-inch advanced multi-touch LCD display prototype featuring Gorilla Glass as a durable, touch-sensitive cover glass, Corning said.
