HOUSTON, May 20 (UPI) -- Endeavour astronauts have completed their first spacewalk for installation and maintenance tasks on the International Space Station, NASA said.

Astronauts Drew Feustel and Greg Chamitoff successfully installed antennas for the External Wireless Communication system, routing cables, setting up the antenna, installing handrails and connecting power cables, NASA reported Friday.

Because of a carbon dioxide sensor failure in Chamitoff's spacesuit, flight controllers limited his spacewalk time to about 6 hours 20 minutes, 10 minutes less than the planned duration.

There was no indication his suit's carbon dioxide levels would rise, NASA said, but controllers decided to defer tasks to remove a micrometeoroid debris shield to access and attach some of the connection points, ending the spacewalk at 9:29 a.m. EDT.

This was the first of four planned spacewalks for the STS-134 mission.
