Tylenol, Benadryl in voluntary recall

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- A Johnson & Johnson subsidiary says it is recalling a number of products, including Tylenol and Benadryl, distributed in the United States and overseas.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced McNeil Consumer Healthcare is pulling 47 million packages of Tylenol, Benadryl, Sudafed and Sinutab manufactured at its plant in Fort Washington, Pa., an FDA release said Tuesday.

In May, McNeil announced it was stopping production at the plant to address quality concerns cited by the FDA. The company said the recall follows a review of production records that found instances where equipment-cleaning procedures were insufficient.

The company said the recall was aimed at the wholesale level and would not directly affect consumers.

Consumers with questions can call 1-888-222-6036, McNeil said.
