GUELPH, Ontario, March 19 (UPI) -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning people not to consume certain luncheon meat kits and hot dogs purchased at a Guelph, Ontario, store.
The food safety agency, Loblaw Companies Ltd. and Guelph police officials said the products sold at a No Frills Store were found to contain 50mm sewing needles that had been forced into the packages.
The needles were found in Schneiders-brand ham, turkey and summer sausage, pepperoni pizza, bagel combos with cream cheese, wieners and jumbo hot dogs.
The food safety agency said it was encouraging anyone who purchased similar products at the store located northwest of Toronto to carefully inspect the packages for signs of tampering.
Police officials told the Toronto Sun the evidence indicates the tampering was confined to the No Frills Store.
