Canada recalls Ziggy's-brand egg salad

OTTAWA, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume certain Ziggy's-brand products containing egg salad due to possible contamination.

Plaisirs Gastronomique Inc. of Boisbriand, Quebec, the manufacturer, said the egg salad distributed in Ontario and Quebec might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recalled Ziggy's brand products bear a "Best Before" date up to and including Feb. 17. Also included in the warning are various egg salad and egg salad products, including egg salad sandwiches manufactured at some chain stores and independent retailers, including Loblaws, Provigo, Metro, IGA, Bonichoix, Boni-soir, Voisin, Marche Richelieu, L'intermarche, Axep, Ultramar, Tradition and Le depanneur.

The CFIA said consumers who purchased various egg salad and egg salad products at the stores between Feb. 2 and Feb. 17 and who still have the products in their refrigerators are advised not to consume them.
