WASHINGTON, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- More dog biscuits have been recalled as the list of U.S. peanut products possibly contaminated by salmonella bacteria grows larger.
American Nutrition Inc. of Ogden, Utah, said it was voluntarily recalling various brands of baked dog treats containing peanut butter supplied by the Peanut Corp. of America. PCA has been accused by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of knowingly distributing tainted peanuts, peanut butter and peanut paste to manufacturers of dog treats, candy, baked goods, cereals and other products.
The dog biscuits recalled by American Nutrition were sold under the brand names Vita Bone, Vita Snacks, Hill Country Fare, Integrity, Farm Style, Northwest Royal, Mill Creek, Western Family, Next Gen, Springfield Prize and Yeaster.
Among other recent recalls were:
--Something Better Natural Foods: Carob coated peanuts, fruit and nut clusters, mixed nuts and bridge mix, as well as Honey Nut- and 5-Grain-brand granola.
--Nutco Inc., dba Germack Pistachio Co.: Sugar free milk chocolate peanuts.
--Western Trade Group Inc: Roasted feed grade peanuts shipped to animal-livestock and wild bird feed packers.
--Cuisine Innovations LLC: Frozen assorted flavors of Casino Chef-brand mini cheesecakes.
--Palmer Candy Co.: Casey's General Store-, Palmer Peg-, Best Choice-, Shurfine-, Food Club-, Eagle Premium-, Sconza-, Hy-Vee-, Spartan-and Valu Time-brand peanut clusters.
--Marin Food Specialties Inc.: Marin-, Fred Meyer-, Dancing Star-, Our Kitchen- and Snack Naturally-brand of various trail mixes, candies and peanuts.
--Kerry Ingredients & Flavours: Jana's-brand peanut butter cookies.
--Nestle HealthCare Nutrition Inc.: Optifast-brand honey nut 'n oat nutritional bars.
