Viking graves date to 11th century

ORERBRO, Sweden, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Researchers said six graves uncovered in central Sweden likely date back to the Viking era of the 11th century.

The newspaper Nerikes Allehanda said the graves were uncovered during an archaeological examination prior to construction of a new parish house beside a cemetery in Lannas, outside Orebro, the English-language newspaper The Local reported Friday.

A unique set of glass beads, as well as bronze and iron objects, were found in the graves. A well-preserved cranium of a woman will be examined using carbon-14 dating, the newspaper said.
