WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- U.S. lawmakers said President George Bush is expected to sign a law banning lead and six types of phthalates in toys.
The Kid Safe Chemicals Act would require that all toys be tested for lead before they reach the consumer market, USA Today said Tuesday. Six different types of phthalates will be banned and the budget for the Consumer Product Safety Commission will receive a significant boost over the next seven years.
