Deutsche Telekom uses IPTV for soccer

FRANKFURT, Germany, May 19 (UPI) -- Deutsche Telekom will broadcast the German soccer league matches live on Internet television.

In partnership with Premiere AG, the pay-per-view television broadcaster, the telecommunications company will cover matches by Germany's Bundesliga in IPTV format.

"The service will set new standards in sports reporting. Experienced presenters and the longtime experience of the Premiere team will be the basis for Bundesliga reporting with event character. New fan-oriented services such as a personalized conference service will make the offer a highlight in Germany's TV market," said Walter Raizner, the carrier's board member responsible for the broadband and fixed network business area.
