First flight celebrations begin

WASHINGTON, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- U.S. air and space pioneers gathered in Washington Tuesday to launch a year-long commemoration of the centennial of powered human flight. The ceremonies celebrated the achievements of Orville and Wilbur Wright, who flew a powered aircraft at Kitty Hawk, N.C., on Dec. 17, 2003.
