Study: Drug reduces heart inflammation

DENVER, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- A study released Monday finds the active ingredient in Zocor, a widely prescribed cholesterol-lowering medication, appears to reduce inflammation associated with heart disease after 14 days of treatment. Researchers say earlier work showed results after a longer therapy regimen and note the new findings may have implications for treatment of heart attack victims.
