Anthrax investigation synopsis

WASHINGTON, Conn., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- FBI and federal and state health officials are concentrating their investigative efforts to four main sites -- New York, Washington, New Jersey and Florida -- where people or sites have tested positive for the pathogen. Following is a synopsis of what has been discovered.

Deaths from inhalation infections:

Robert Stevens, 63, photo editor, the Sun, American Media Inc., Boca Raton, Fla. Inhaled anthrax. Died Oct. 5.

Two postal workers from the Brentwood mailing facility in Washington, Joseph Curseen, 47, died Oct. 21 and Thomas Morris, 55, on Oct. 22.

Inhalation anthrax infections:

Ernesto Blanco, 73, mailroom worker, American Media Inc. Released from hospital, recovering.

Two male postal workers from the Brentwood mailing facility in Washington hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

State Department contract mail worker at the department's Sterling, Va., site, hospitalized.

Cutaneous anthrax infections:

Erin O'Connor, 38, NBC News, New York.

Boy, 7 months, son of ABC News producer.

Claire Fletcher, 27, CBS News.

Two New York Post employees.

Three postal workers in Trenton, N.J.

Anthrax has been found either on people or within the building at:

American Media Inc., Boca Raton, Fla.

Three U.S. Postal Service facilities in Florida, two in Boca Raton and one in Lake Worth.

Trenton, N.J. U.S. Postal Service's Hamilton facility.

ABC New York.
