May 25 (UPI) -- Sarah Lacina was named the winner of Survivor: Game Changers Wednesday, taking home a $1 million cash price.
Lacina, a 33-year-old police officer from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was voted the winner by the jury over runner-up Brad Culpepper and third place finisher Troyzan Robertson.
Contestants Tai Trang, Aubry Bracco and Cirie Fields were voted off earlier in the finale episode which featured a record-breaking three idols being played.
Lacina, when speaking with Entertainment Tonight, noted that she was going to be very careful about how she spends her prize money.
"I'm going to tie it to my church, obviously. Ten percent is going to church off the top, and then my husband and I just want to build a home, and set money aside for retirement," she said. "I want to be smart with it because a million dollars can go quickly," she shared. "I'm just, I'm really good with my money, and I'll just continue that way."
A two-time player on the long-running CBS reality series, Lacina said she felt "90 percent sure she was going to win the competition. "I hurt people really bad, and you can't be 100 percent sure," she explained. "I kept telling my husband, 'Until they finally announce the winner, I won't believe it.'"
Survivor: Game Changers was wrapped in controversy in April when contestant Zeke Smith was outed as transgender during a tribal council meeting by fellow competitor Jeff Varner.
Varner shared the information about Smith in an attempt to save himself, but the move backfired as he was voted off the island, faced backlash on social media and was fired from his real estate job following the incident.
