Police, neighbors free deer from soccer net twice

By Ben Hooper

Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Police in Ohio said officers and concerned bystanders twice came to the rescue of a deer that became entangled in a soccer net.

The Brunswick Police Department said animal control officers were unavailable Saturday when officers responded to a school where a deer had been spotted trapped in a soccer net.

Neighbors helped officers use tree trimmers to pull on the net until it was taught enough to cut through.

The deer was temporarily freed, but in a panic ran to the other side of the net and became trapped a second time.

The rescuers cut through the net a second time, allowing the deer to flee to the nearby woods.
