Officer 'Cage' Byrd rescues injured bird

PORTLAND, Ore., June 15 (UPI) -- Oregon police officer McCageor "Cage" Byrd lived up to his name when he rescued a hawk chick with an injured leg outside of a hair salon.

Byrd, who found the chick outside of a downtown business, said the red-tailed hawk likely fell from a nest watched on the Raptor Cam, which has been following the progress of three chicks that hatched in the spring, KGW-TV, Portland, reported Wednesday.
