The suspect, Beth Dickerson, is well-known to the police because she’s already banned from the Walmart. Advertisement During the incident on Tuesday, a loss prevention officer stopped Dickerson outside the front door of the store trying to leave with a "cart full of miscellaneous items." According to Eaton Police Officer Tom Smith, Dickerson and two young children were able to escape by hopping into a waiting vehicle driven by a male friend. "A combination of the shoplifting and knowing she is not permitted on the property here probably contributed to the reason she fled the scene," Smith said. Unfortunately, Dickerson’s daughter and her friend were still in the store. They were picked up at the Walmart by a relative. "It's a very sad time for the children," Smith said. "This is supposed to be a time of happiness." When police locate Dickerson, she'll be charged with theft, child endangerment and criminal trespassing. The items she had in the cart remained at the store.
