About 40 minutes later, Andrés issued the standard on-air apology:
"Now earlier in this show, I made a comment about a Jeremy Lin basket that I should not have made. This was clearly a poor choice of words. I sincerely apologize. I'm very, very sorry for offending anyone. That was never my intention."
In February 2012, ESPN fired an online editor for running a story showing a picture of Lin with the headline "Chink In The Armor."
“ESPN has apologized,” Lin said of the headline at the time. “I don’t think it was on purpose or whatever. At the same time, they’ve apologized, and so from my end I don’t care anymore. [You] have to learn to forgive. And I don’t even think that was intentional, or hopefully not."
