Men's Wearhouse is having a slow year, and superstitious brides may be part of the reason.

According to CEO Doug Ewert, the "numerical anomalies" associated with the year 2013 have weighed on wedding sales have carried over and hurt his business. Shares for Men's Wearhouse Inc. are down 10 percent.

The fear of the number 13, or triskaidekaphobia, has left the superstitious spooked over what happens if their wedding date contains the number.

"Historically, we’ve seen numeric anomalies in the calendar affect when brides choose their wedding date, and we believe that the number 13 in 2013 is causing a small, but meaningful number of brides to avoid getting married this year," Ewert said.

Reports early in the year suggested the potential for savings by getting married in 2013, as many brides and grooms choose not to have a 13 in their wedding date and push the date until later.
