A graphic comparing Trayvon Martin's death to that of Marley Lion's went viral after a mother posted it on her Facebook page.

Elizabeth O'Neill, the creator of the illustration, said she never expected the image to get that big.

"I just posted it on my wall and from there, that's how it started. I never expected it to go this far," she said

O'Neill explained she used a computer to create the meme in which she compares the deaths of the two 17-year-olds.

On one hand there is Martin who was shot by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman as he was walking home one night, and on the other there is Lion who was shot in his car in June 2012.

The main difference, she points out, is that Martin was a black teenager and was shot by a Hispanic man and Lion was a white teenager shot by a black man. She added that Martin's story went on to make national news and was "recognized by the president and countless celebrities" while Lion's case "never made it past the local news."

"It doesn't matter what color your skin is. Everybody bleeds red. It doesn't matter. Two mothers still lost their son," O'Neill said during an interview with WCIV.

O'Neill's post came a couple of days after Zimmerman was acquitted in the murder of Martin prompting several groups to protest the jury's decision.

O'Neill said she didn't regret designing the viral graphic because it brought attention to Lion's case.
