11 donkeys found wandering loose in California

Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Authorities in California rounded up 11 donkeys found running loose in a San Diego County industrial park.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Office said the donkeys were reported near Business Park Drive and Sycamore Avenue in Vista on Monday.

Deputies called for assistance from the San Diego Humane Society.

"Upon arrival, our humane officers worked alongside sheriff's deputies to safely corral the donkeys into a parking lot of a vacant building, where they were later reunited with their owners," the San Diego Humane Society said in a statement to NBC San Diego. "We are relieved that these sweet donkeys are now back where they belong."

The humane society said officers plan to follow up with the owner of the ranch later this week to determine how the animals managed to escape.
