Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Firefighters in British Columbia ventured out onto a frozen river to rescue a deer that wandered onto the ice and found itself unable to stand on the slippery surface.

Firefighters donned cold weather rescue gear and went out onto the river.

The rescuers roped the deer and used the line to tow the animal back to shore, where it was able to find its footing.
