Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Police and animal rescue officers in Missouri came to the rescue of a woman who became stranded in a kayak after saving a dog that fell through the ice on a frozen lake. The Holts Summit Police Department said on social media that an officer and an animal control officer responded to a report of a dog that fell through the ice of a frozen lake near Dogwood Drive and Summertree Lane. Advertisement "Upon arrival, officers discovered that a brave Good Samaritan had taken a kayak onto the frozen lake in an attempt to save the dog," the post said. "While the dog had been successfully rescued, the female in the kayak became stuck on the ice, unable to safely return to shore." The officers used a water rescue throw bag to reach the woman and tow her kayak back to shore. "Thankfully, both the dog and the female were unharmed," police wrote.
