Dee Miller captured video of the Australian marsupial hopping through Bessemer on Sunday night and posted it to social media, where it quickly spread among the local community. "I know people would have said, 'No, ain't no kangaroo in Bessemer,'" he said. Detective Justin Burmeister of the Bessemer Police Department said the kangaroo escaped from an Owen Avenue home where multiple exotic animals are kept. Burmeister said the kangaroo was recaptured by its owner Monday evening.
