Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A Michigan couple had an especially memorable couple of days when they won $1 million from a scratch-off lottery ticket bought the day after their wedding.

The 57-year-old Livingston County groom told Michigan Lottery officials he bought his Diamonds & Pearls scratch-off ticket from the Prudenville E-Z Mart on West Highton Lake Drive.

"I bought the ticket the day after my wedding and gave it to my wife to scratch," the player said. "When she revealed the '$1 MIL' prize amount, we were in disbelief. We kept reading the instructions over and over again to make sure we really won. It was an exciting couple of days for us!"

The newlywed visited lottery headquarters to collect his $1 million prize. He took his winnings as a $693,000 lump sum.

The man said the prize money will be invested.
