Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Commuters on a busy Australian highway were treated to a rare spectacle -- a giraffe peeking out from an over-sized trailer on the highway.

Drivers on the Hume Highway, south of Sydney, called in to morning radio shows Wednesday morning to report a giraffe was looking out from a window in the back of a trailer.

"It was popping its head out, it had a big smile," a caller named Eddie told 2GB radio's Ben Fordham Live.

The giraffe turned out to have been traveling from the Australia Zoo in Queensland to the Werribee Open Range Zoo in Victoria.

Zoos Victoria said two sub-adult giraffes were being transported to Werribee to join its bachelor herd.
