Escaped llamas, alpacas cause chaos on busy British road

Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Traffic came to a standstill on a busy road in England when a herd of escaped llamas and alpacas took a walk in the roadway.

Terry Barlow, owner of the Basecame North Lakes shop near Troutbeck, Cumbria, said a customer alerted him Monday that his llamas and alpacas were on the loose.

Barlow said the animals made their way to the A66 road and were blocking traffic while heading toward Penrith.

Barlow shared video of the animals causing chaos in the roadway on Instagram.

"It's been one of them days," Barlow wrote.

The owner said he and his team blocked the road temporarily and guided the escaped animals back home.

Barlow said he determined the escape had been facilitated by a tear in his fence.
