Sept. 21 (UPI) -- A Michigan man said a pit stop during a family vacation led to his winning a $300,000 lottery jackpot.

The 40-year-old Calhoun County man told Michigan Lottery officials he was on a road trip with his family when they made a stop at the Alma EZ Mart on West Lincoln Road in Alma.

"We were heading to Northern Michigan for a family vacation, and I stopped to buy a lottery ticket on the way," the player said.

The man selected an X's & O's Bingo ticket.

"I scratched the barcode right away and scanned the ticket. When I saw the winning amount, I thought: 'This can't be real,'" the player recalled.

The man immediately alerted his wife.

"I showed my wife, and she took the ticket and started scanning it over and over. When $300,000 continued coming up on the screen, we both started hollering," the winner said.

He said he already has plans for his prize money.

"Winning is amazing," he said. "I am going to pay off my home and then celebrate by taking my wife out to a nice dinner."
