Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Animal services officers and firefighters in North Carolina came to the rescue of a green heron seen dangling from a tree over a pond while entangled in fishing line. Cary Animal Services said in a Facebook post that animal services officers responded to a report of a bird in distress and arrived to find the green heron dangling from fishing line suspended from a tree branch over a small island in the pond. Advertisement The post said the bird was too difficult to reach, so the Cary Fire Department was called to assist. Firefighters were able to remove the bird from the tree and bring it to shore, where they worked with the animal services officers to remove the fishing line wrapped around its body. The heron was taken to Carolina Waterfowl Rescue in Union County for rest and rehabilitation.
